Anne Hathaway, who welcomed her first child in March 2016, has urged mothers not to feel “shame” over their post-pregnancy bodies in an Instagram post.
The Oscar-winning actress, 33, wrote: “There is no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever).”
The Hollywood star shared her message on the social networking site in a bid to encourage women to not feel pressured to lose their baby weight. “There is no shame if it takes longer than you think it will to lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all),” she wrote.
She posted a picture of a pair of cut-up jeans and wrote that women must not feel shame in “making your own jean shorts because last summer’s are just too dang short for this summer’s thighs”.
Her body-confidence message concluded poignantly: “Bodies change. Bodies grow. Bodies shrink. It’s all love (don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.) Peace.”
